Access arrangements 2023 Posted or Updated on 19 Apr 2024

Access to the surgery is continually under review.

All GP consultations are by telephone in the first instance. The Doctor will arrange a face-to-face appointment with you if this is appropriate.  Telephone consultations must be requested in the morning of each day. We are also offering patients who need it, the availability of booking a telephone consultation with a Dr within the next 48 hours. We are offering these 48-hour consultations in the afternoon as well for those who find it difficult to take telephone calls in the morning due to work commitments. We are also offering book within a week slots as well if appropriate.

Whilst staff are triaging the telephone call, they will decide which telephone slot is appropriate. When routine telephone calls are at capacity, our auto attendant will inform you of this and ask you to call back on another day unless your call is an emergency. Certain requests can be dealt with if you telephone in the afternoon.

We realise that phone lines can be busy but we ask that you appreciate that we are dealing with a huge volume of calls as efficiently as possible. We have increased our telephone capacity to assist in dealing with this increased volume. The auto attendant will inform you where you are in the queue and you can then decide to hold on or not.

Medical receptionists are trained to triage your telephone call and will ask you for some information so that it can be passed to the most appropriate staff member to deal with it safely.

Patients are reminded that Ormeau Park Surgery has a Zero Tolerance Policy so please be mindful of this when speaking to our staff.

All booked apts should now come to the front door. Please check in at reception, thank you
